What Embroidery Is, and Why Businesses Choose It

Embroidery sews your design into the garment with thread instead of laying ink on top of it. The result has texture you can see and feel: a slightly raised, dimensional logo with a natural sheen. It reads as polished and permanent, which is why it’s the go-to for anything worn to work, to meet clients or to represent a brand up close.

Because the design is stitched into the fabric, there’s no ink to crack or wash out. Embroidery also handles fabrics that don’t love ink: thick fleece, structured hat fronts, knit beanies and heavier jackets.

It shines on small to medium logos and names in left-chest, sleeve and hat placements. It’s not the best fit for big full-back designs or photo-style artwork. For those, we’ll point you to screen printing or full-color heat transfers instead.

What We Embroider

Our embroidery department handles the pieces that get worn hardest and seen most:

Polos

The classic company shirt. A left-chest logo on a polo is the simplest way to make a team look uniform.

Hats, Caps & Beanies

Embroidery is the standard for structured caps, dad hats and trucker hats, and knit beanies make great cold-weather staff gear and merch. See every style on our custom hats page.

Hoodies & Sweatshirts

A stitched chest logo on heavy fleece looks premium and holds up.

Jackets & Outerwear

Work jackets, soft shells and quarter-zips for crews, managers and client-facing teams.

Browse styles on our products page, or come to the showroom to see blanks in person. We don’t embroider customer-supplied garments; choosing from our selection keeps quality and timing in our hands.

From Logo to Stitches

A printed logo and a stitched logo are made very differently. For embroidery, your artwork is converted into a stitch file that tells the machine where every stitch goes, in what direction and in what order. That file is what makes the difference between a logo that looks crisp and one that looks fuzzy or puckered.

Tips for a Logo That Stitches Clean

  • Keep small text readable. Very tiny lettering and hairline details can fill in with thread. If your logo has a small tagline, we may suggest dropping it on the left-chest version or making it larger.
  • Simplify gradients. Thread is a solid color, so fades and shading are usually simplified into solid areas.
  • Mind the size. A logo that looks great 10 inches wide on a poster has to work at just a few inches wide on a chest or the front of a cap.

Send your logo and we’ll tell you how it will translate to thread before you commit. Production starts only after you approve your proof and pay, and once an order is in production it can’t be changed, so the proof is your moment to get everything right.

Embroidery, Screen Printing or Patches?

We do all three in-house, so we’ll recommend what fits your order instead of whatever one machine does:

Embroidery (from 12 pieces)

Best for professional, long-wearing pieces with a small to medium logo: polos, hats, jackets and fleece.

Screen Printing (from 24 pieces)

Best for t-shirts, larger designs, bold colors and specialty inks like puff, metallic, glitter and fluorescent. See screen printing.

Custom Patches (from 50 pieces)

Embroidered, woven, rubber or leather patches attached to headwear, outerwear and heavy fleece. A good choice for a bold, bordered badge look, or one patch design across many different garments. See our custom patches page.

Many customers mix methods across one order, for example embroidered polos for managers and screen printed tees for the event crew. We’ll help you plan it.

Embroidery FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most about custom embroidery.

Have another question? Call (702) 685-6270 or send us a message.

What’s the minimum for custom embroidery?

12 pieces per design. You can mix garment styles, colors and sizes in that order as long as the logo, size and thread colors are the same.

Is there a setup fee for embroidery?

Yes. Embroidery has a $45 setup fee. Ask us about it when you request your quote.

Can you embroider my logo exactly as it looks in print?

Most logos stitch beautifully, but thread works differently than ink. Very small text, hairline details and gradients may need small adjustments. We’ll review your logo for free and show you the result on a digital proof before anything is stitched.

What can you embroider on?

Polos, hats and caps, beanies, hoodies and sweatshirts, and jackets and outerwear, among others. Browse options on our products page or see them at the showroom.

Should I choose embroidery or screen printing?

Embroidery is best for a professional, long-lasting logo on polos, hats, fleece and jackets. Screen printing is best for t-shirts, large designs and bold or specialty inks. We do both in-house and will recommend the right one for your order.

Can I bring my own shirts or jackets to embroider?

No. We don’t decorate customer-supplied garments. We carry a wide selection of blanks so we can control quality and timing.

How long does embroidery take?

Standard turnaround is 2 weeks from proof approval and payment. Rush may be available for a fee depending on our schedule, so tell us your date up front.
