Pick the Patch That Fits the Look

Custom patches give your logo something flat printing can’t: texture, a raised edge and a finished, high-end look. Each material reads differently from across a room and up close.

Embroidered patches

The classic. Thread gives a raised, textured surface and bold color. Best for logos with solid shapes and a few colors, on hats, work jackets and varsity-style pieces.

Woven patches

Finer thread woven tight and flat, so they hold small lettering and thin lines better than embroidery. Pick woven when your logo has detail you don’t want to lose.

PVC and silicone rubber patches

Molded, with crisp edges, depth and a soft, flexible feel. They stand out on outdoor, athletic and streetwear-style gear.

Leather patches

A premium, understated look, and a favorite on caps and outerwear when you want something that feels more retail than promotional.

Not sure which one? Send us your logo and tell us where it’s going. During the free design review, an account manager will point out which styles will hold your detail.

Patch or Direct Embroidery?

We do both in-house, so we’ll steer you to whichever suits the piece. Direct embroidery stitches your logo into the garment itself. A patch is made first and then secured to the garment, which gives it a defined border and a raised, layered look. Patches are often the better choice when:

  • you want a leather or rubber look that thread can’t give
  • the garment is thick or structured, like heavy fleece, a work jacket or a structured cap
  • you want the logo to read as a badge or emblem, with its own shape and border
  • you’re building a retail-style product for a brand drop or merch table

Direct embroidery is often simpler for polos and lighter garments, and its minimum is 12 pieces instead of 50. Our embroidery page covers that side, and the custom hats page shows hat styles that work with both.

PLACEMENT

Where Patches Work Best

Hats

The most popular spot. A patch on a trucker, snapback or structured cap gives a bold front panel. Leather and woven patches are common picks here.

Jackets and outerwear

Work jackets, bombers and coats take a chest or sleeve patch well, and it holds up to the weight of the fabric.

Heavy fleece

Hoodies and heavyweight sweatshirts are a natural fit when you want a logo with texture instead of a print.

Because we apply patches to your garments here in the shop, you don’t have to source patches in one place and finished apparel in another.

Who Orders Custom Patches

Patches work for anyone who wants their logo to feel like a badge, not a print.

Clothing Brands and Creators

A premium touch on hats and outerwear for a drop.

Work Crews and Trades

A durable logo on jackets and caps that looks sharp on the job.

Clubs, Teams and Car Groups

An emblem with real presence on hats and hoodies.

Businesses and Restaurants

Staff hats or merch that feels more like retail.

Event and Convention Teams

A merch item that stands out from a printed tee.

Designing Artwork That Works as a Patch

A patch has a fixed size and a border, so the best patch art is simple and bold. A few tips we share with customers:

  • Keep text readable at patch size. Very small lettering is where woven patches beat embroidered ones.
  • Think about the shape. A circle, shield or rectangle can frame your logo, or the patch can follow the outline of the logo itself.
  • Fewer colors usually read better from a distance, especially on hats.
  • Tell us the garment color, so the patch border and background contrast well with it.

Basic design layouts and artwork cleanup are free. Your digital proof shows placement, size and Pantone colors before anything goes into production.

Custom Patch FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most about patches.

Have another question? Call (702) 685-6270, or see our full FAQ page.

What’s the minimum for custom patches?

50 pieces per patch design. If you need fewer, direct embroidery starts at 12 pieces and may be a good alternative.

Which patch type should I choose?

It depends on your logo and the look you want. Embroidered patches give raised texture, woven patches hold fine detail, PVC and silicone rubber give crisp molded edges, and leather gives a premium, understated look. We’ll recommend one during your free design review.

What can you put patches on?

We secure patches to headwear, outerwear and heavy fleece: hats, jackets and heavyweight hoodies and sweatshirts. Ask us about other garments.

Can I bring my own hats or jackets?

No. We don’t decorate customer-supplied garments. You choose from the hats and apparel we carry, which you can browse on our products page.

How long do patch orders take?

About 2 weeks, starting once your proof is approved and the order is paid. Rush may be available for a fee, so ask if you have a date to hit.

Can I mix hat styles or garment colors in one patch order?

Usually yes, as long as the patch design stays the same. Tell us the mix when you request a quote and we’ll confirm it.
